Squashed Cob is a four piece group, producing original music with a mild hint of comedy. The music is mainly electronic based using the styles of Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock, Dance, Drum and Bass and House, with live vocals, guitar and percussion used for the live shows. The group was set up in February 2006 by Majic who has been producing music for 10 years, his first produced track under the name of Squashed Cob was “I was bigger when I was younger”, which once produced, showed that Majic had a great talent and needed to pursue the track further.

 Majic got together with Frazz, Spanners and Mitchell to provide a strong backing sound to the track, which when played live gave the track a richer fuller sound. Rehearsals turned in to producing sessions and new tracks were being created and produced building up the Squashed Cob repertoire. Each band member brings their own style to the group creating the overall sound that is Squashed Cob.


 

The group is energetic and vibrant as can be seen in the DVD. Also comedy plays a big part in the tracks as some of the lyrics contain stories and facts about real life etc “I used to love staying in on a Saturday morning, watching Live and Kicking, Raccoons, Motor Mouth I was sorted” – I was bigger when I was younger.

Over the current year Squashed Cob have been performing live at several venues, appearing on internet radio shows all over the world and provide appearances for local events, all to help with the overall promotion of the group. They have also put together their own, Websites, Press Releases, Films/Videos and Merchandise, which is all available on line.

Majic:     Vocalist/Producer and Owner of Squashed Cob. He produces all the music in his room at home using Cubase and a couple of microphones. His biggest influence for creating Squashed Cob is the band “The Prodigy”, who use electronic beats and an aggressive attitude, which can be thank full for sound and production  of the track “The Beast of Wollaston”.

 

Frazz:    Percussion/Manager. Frazz has been working close with Majic in the promotion of the group. Frazz has helped the group appear on over 6 different internet radio shows as well as appear frequently in the local press. On stage he can be seen partying away playing his Congas as well as dancing and clapping to get the crowd going.

 




Mitchell:    Vocals. Mitchell has only been MC-ing for 2 years but has the gift of the gab and is able to manipulate his voice to create a wide variety of voices and sounds. His rapping style creates a superb balance to the group with his deep voice complementing Majic’s vocals perfectly, to create a solid vocal section within the group..

 

 

Spanners:    Guitarist. Spanners has been playing the guitar for over 8years and has appeared in many rock/indie bands playing all over the UK. He has a great knowledge of different guitar styles, which works extremely well with Squashed Cob as each track produced has its own distinctive style.
